March 25, 2020

1. As COVID-19 continues to spread quickly and related news reports dominate the media, it’s natural to feel anxious and stressed. As you care for others, whether members, patients, or your own family, we want to be sure you prioritize taking care of yourself.

• Please review these simple and effective self-care practices that can help support your physical and mental health.
• Kaiser Permanente’s Employee Assistance Program, a free, confidential service available to the people of KP, is now offering free Weekly Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga Sessions.
• Social media and other poorly vetted sources can be transmitters of misinformation, so we have to make a point of seeking out reputable sources of facts, like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
• Take time to connect. Social distancing does not mean social isolation. Keep in touch with family and friends using FaceTime, email, phone, or text messages.

2. KP Alert, Kaiser Permanente’s intelligent notification system, can reach employees with important information during an emergency. It’s currently in use for the coronavirus outbreak. For KP Alert to operate effectively, it’s vital that your profile information is up to date on My HR. Also, please ensure you confirm or update your work location in your contact card using the Outlook Contact Editor. Remote workers should select their nearest KP facility. Kaiser Permanente will activate the alert system to reach employees by voice, email, or text message using their preferred contact information.

Please share this information and review your contact information and update if needed.

3. Please conserve Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We all have a shared responsibility to prioritize conserving all PPE, especially masks, gowns, face shields, and swabs. Please communicate the importance of this issue with your teams.
