News and Bargaining Updates

A big thank you to everyone that made it to our second-annual Labor Day event.

Check out some photos from the day below!

On Tuesday, August 28, national bargaining will resume in Los Angeles. If you haven’t yet signed our bargaining pledge, please sign now!

A NEW CONTRACT THAT WILL DICTATE HOW MUCH YOU GET PAID, HOW MUCH YOU PAY TO SEE A DOCTOR, HOW MUCH YOU PAY TO FILL YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS, AND HOW MUCH CONTROL COMPANY HAS OVER YOUR SCHEDULE.

Company is serious about:

1.      Wanting the unilateral right to cancel your shifts at the last minute. That means you wouldn’t be able to plan or budget your life.

2.      Increasing copays to $20 every time you go to the doctor, get a procedure done, or fill a prescription. Those expenses would add up quickly and could turn one doctor’s visit into a lot of money.

Our contract expires on October 1, 2018 and it’s more important than ever for all members of Local 7600 to build from the powerful wave of engagement we had on Sunday, July 8, until we win another standard-setting agreement.

Kaiser Permanente’s priorities are in stark contrast to ours:

After an unprecedented show of strength by more than 2,500 union members who rallied at national coordinated bargaining, which included more than 500 Local 7600 members, labor and management reached a few tentative agreements, but called for more bargaining on August 28-29 to finalize a new National Agreement.

Congratulations to our Local 7600 Civil & Human Rights Committee for being selected as District 12's-2018 USW Cares Jefferson Award recipient.

Well done -- thank you for your continuous hard work and dedication to our members and our community!

The bargaining team for the Alliance Unions assembled on Tuesday in Anaheim and got right down to work. After we reached agreement with management on an updated version of the original 1997 LMP Agreement, bargaining has officially opened!

At the evening bargaining kick-off session, bargainers and Union observers heard speeches by representatives from the Unions, management, and the Permanente Federation.

On May 22, 2018 the Alliance of Health Care Unions (AHCU) will begin coordinated bargaining for a new agreement with Kaiser Permanente (KP).
