The Union has learned of 2 proposed actions. The first is tomorrow morning (August 11, 2021) from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. outside of the Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, on the corner of Sierra and Valley Blvd.  The second is on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 8:00 to 10:00 am outside of Kaiser Hospital in Ontario. The Union understands that these actions, “No Freedom, No America,” may be in response to the recent mandate of COVID-19 vaccinations for health care workers.  The Union wanted to take this moment to remind our membership that we are currently engaged in bargaining with the Hospital on this issue and are fighting for a safe and fair policy.

While we respect the voices of each of our members, the Union has not authorized these actions and does not encourage or condone any employees engaging in any work stoppage.  This is consistent with our collective bargaining agreement, which says:

The parties recognize that a hospital renders vital services to the community and for humanitarian reasons, they agree that there shall be no lockouts, no strikes, nor interruptions or impeding of work during the term of this Agreement. No officer or representative of the Employer or the Union shall authorize, instigate, aid or condone any such activities. No employee shall participate in any such activities.

With that in mind, the Union would like to reiterate that employees should report to work for scheduled shifts and should not impede or purposely slow down work at the Hospital.
